Introduction

i lived with a roommate one time who used to say i made one of three things every time i cooked: shit in a pot, shit in a pan, or shit in a wrap.  the three food groups of sorts.  it kind of covers everything.

i enjoy using what i have and being creative.  i don’t like to throw food away and get a lot of satisfaction from this kind of creative problem solving.  i like to live simply.  i like to appreciate what i have, and feel abundance in the face of perceived simplistic lack.i can make a meal for myself out of thin air, that will nourish me and do that thing that food was designed to do:feed you!

this blog is not designed to educate you, or tell you that one way of eating is better than another.  i am shamelessly opportunistic, and what i eat when i'm a guest at someone's house can be very different from what i buy for myself at the store, and if i'm given something free (and delicious!) that will go to waste otherwise, you can bet that i will take it gratefully, and be fed.

we live in a (first) world where being at the mercy of our whim is not only accepted, but encouraged.  if we don’t strive to acquire what we want when we want it then our freedom of choice is going to waste.  we live not only on what we consume, but the acquisition of it as well.

everything is at our fingertips.  and as we try to make things perfect for ourselves, we often miss the appreciation of what we have, because there will always be something better to obtain.

if you don’t appreciate what you have, you won’t appreciate what you get.  this is my super cheap way to exercise simple living.  it’s a game.  it’s life.  it’s shit in a pot! :)
